Those rear indicators on the new Golf?
« on: 24 August 2017, 15:53 »
Are we able to update out indicator sequence on our Mk7 GTi similar to the "sweeping" format of the latest car?

I assumed we were not able to, until I recently saw a few older Audi Q3, Q5 and A4 models have this feature.

Is there coding available on OBD11 or Vagcom?

Cheers.

Some German company have managed it but it's not as simple as just coding, there's some hardware involved too. There's a video on YouTube showing the result, there may even be a discussion on how it's done.

That last one also has these bad boys which aren't Mk7.5 OEM:

(I'm actually quite keen on this for my Mk7.5 as the mirror repeaters don't sweep on the OEM)

You can't do it through vcds or OBDeleven but you can get a harness from carsystems as Fred posted above, as it happens I'm selling mine maybe.

You can also have the Mk7.5 rear lights retrofitted but from your question I'm guessing that's not what your after.

You can also get these http://www.vcdssydney.com/store/p9/Mk7_Dynamic_Aftermarket_Tail_Lights.html but at 800A$ it's not cheep.

Then there is the way this guy did it but I'm not sure how, https://youtu.be/wib8HunhzLE

Many thanks for the replies guys, I was only interested in trying it for a change. I can;t get excited about wiring harnesses or replacement rear lights!
Cheers..

Can you? They probably don't have e mark so can't go on car legally. Doubt you (i.e. the manufacturer) could get approval, if they are sold in Oz most likely won't have EU (or rather ECE if someone thinks Brexit will 'fix' this) obligatory rear fog lights.
