Agreed, some people don't like change and am sure would still like 15" BBS wheels on their GTI!
Nope. I've owned a lot of performance Golfs in the last 15 years so I'm not just saying it for the sake of it or to wind anyone up.
IMO, the GTI wheels have gotten uglier in each iteration since the MK6. The original Monzas, fitted to the MK5 GTI are a design classic, instantly recognisable as a GTI wheel in the same way a 15" BBS is recognisable as a MK2 wheel. Just look at how often the Monzas have been copied and how many poor replicas of them there are out there. When they first appeared, diamond-cut wheels weren't so common so they did look very special and unique imo.
In every iteration since they've made them a slightly worse looking (I wasn't a huge fan of the Austins either with the asymmetrical axe heads) and now we have the abomination that are the parkers. Somehow I cannot see a big market for replica parkers... which you may say is a good thing I suppose.
On the Clubsport, I wish they'd fitted a more special / classic wheel, such as what was on the Edition 30. The 18's are OK but the 19" Brescia option is now available on a GTD... so its hardly "special".
