@greencode and @booth have you got a mount underneath the plates or are they just stuck straight onto the car?

I cant look at what mine has yet as collect tomorrow I do know the rear one is just stuck on the body of the car because shes sitting with 3 shoes off waiting for refurb  i can see that one but cant get to the front as shes behind locked gates

Did you guys have to buy a mount plate to then stick the plates on ?

Sorry if a really stupid question, i havent had pressed plates before and judging by the cost of them  i dont fancy loosing one on the mway !

Also any up to date recommendations on where to purchase i also want a short 6 digit plate, preferably !

Be aware that if you go for a shorter plate (and assuming you would remove the existing mount as that would look very odd with a short plate), you will most likely see the holes where the mount goes into the bumper, so might need to fill these otherwise they'll be unsightly.

Decided not to get short ones so thats sorted

Best 3m tape you eould recommend are there different sizes ?

My cars white im now swithering on black border on the plates or no border 😕

I think black border would look very good against white car, just give the plate the right amount of definition.

The line that runs through the headlights on a GTD is silver.  Should look very nice once all the tweaks are done. 

Bear in mind, that if you use the oem black front plate mount, that will effectively give a black border between plate and bumper anyway, so a border on the plate itself will give a double black border, but that could look great, and add some dimension to the car, which would work well with the monochrome look.

I think it's your plan to wrap your roof in gloss black vinyl that prompted the comment as there was a black roof option on the Golf GTI Clubsport, so a GTD with its roof wrapped in black = a diesel Clubsport!

hahaha i gathered that........my diesel clubsport will be easier on my pocket than a GTi Clubsport owners personally i think its a fkn superb idea  like i say less fuel costs = more vodka for meeeeeee
