Mk7.5 golf reverse camera retrofit problem SORTED

So I got the kit, pulled off the boot lid trims, and what did I find, what looks like a camera already fitted!!! It has the cables going to the release (3 wires) it has the wires going to the motor (4 wires but no black/blue I have a red) and the grey plug (camera output?), but no wire coming out of the grey plug to the car!, I do have trailer assist, could it be something to do with that?
Also why do you run it down the drivers side then across behind the dash to the glovebox? Wouldn't it be simpler to go down passenger side straight into glovebox?

So it already has the wiring for the camera or the actual camera fitted? It's not unheard of for them to already have the wiring fitted for some options or even both the hardware and cabling in some cases like the CC's come with both for heated rear seats, all that was needed was the switches and vcds.

Reading into trailer assist it has a camera, it measures the angle of the hitch, but it doesn't work when no trailer is hitched to the car (I tried it with the hitch out, I haven't got a trailer), and looking at videos of trailer assist working there's no lines on the screen, so maybe the reason why it's a red and not a black/blue wire is it comes from the hitch wiring and not the reversing light, I think I'm going to have to have a chat with my vw mate when he gets back off holiday

Yes mate, loads, it's a case of replacing the badge, running the wires down to the fuse box and mmi, a few connections and then enabling with vcds or obdeleven, the hardest part as I understand is removal and refitting the trim parts
I think I paid £275 for the camera, quoted 2-3 hours to fit,
As I understand you can take your car into vw and get them to retrofit for you,

But what I wanna know is if you can use the trailer camera as the reverse camera

So a bit more info, pulled the mmi and guess what, the blue plug is there with the black and white wire in the last two pins!!! So popped off the boot trim again and couldn't find the other end, hmmm, got 2 weeks before my guy comes back and so many questions!!!

Bit more info, connected obd software and can open the camera, but no picture on screen 😟

So I've now got a reversing camera, went to vw and asked if they do just a video feed loom, they don't do any looms that's not supplied with the car, so got the loom out of my camera kit (the loom is for sale on eBay for £65) and cut away everything that was not connected to the video feed lead, plugged it in then ran the cable to the mmi, connected the white and black wire to the blue plug, you have to remove the quad lock, pull out the blue plug from the quad lock by moving the little lever that clips it into place, then there's 2 locking covers that you have to flip up (fiddly) and then the pins slot in

Next is the obd11 bit

Camera system rear view
Long coding
Then select the long code up in the top right corner
Scroll along using the green arrows at the bottom of the screen till Byte 7 -parking mode (quer) select the box
Press and hold the green tick

Infotainment
long code
Scroll down to
byte_19_rear_view_low
Change to activated
Press and hold green tick

Then reset the discover pro by pressing and holding the on/off button until the screen goes off then back on again saying welcome to Volkswagen

Also noticed the parking sensor screen is transparent (some people are complaining that it's black and can't see 1/4 of the picture)
