Oh and you don't get a service book either. Yes, that's right, no service book... its all on VW's computer... not quite sure how my local non-VW garage update that...

That's not right! I have a 7.5 GTI and I definitely have a service book. It's quite thick and has space for about 20 services. I would look into that one with the garage.

I did. He just told me that:

VW UK do not supply service books with any new vehicles that are 2018 model year, it is kept electronically

Not sure if there were any 7.5's before MY18....

That explains it then, all cars before built before 29th May 2017 get a service manual. I should imagine the majority of 7.5's on the roads right now were built before then so will have a service manual.

You know, I haven't seen one performance model "GTD, GTI or R" MK7.5 on the road at all round my way. I've only seen a 7.5 R at the dealerships, but haven't even clapped eyes on the FL 7.5 GTI or GTD on the road. Are they only coming though very slowly ?

The only one I've seen was an Indium Grey 5dr GTI with Parkers at my local Thrifty car rental! Only seen the back end though due to the way they are parked. Mind you, any MK7 GTI is a rare sight around my way.

Re the service book... using Google... apparently BMW and Mini haven't issued a paper one in the last couple of years and Mercedes haven't since around 2009...

If you want the service history, you need to ask them for it...

Oh and people say that on those makes selling your car to a non-main dealer then gets money knocked down because it has "no service history".

Sounds a bit like someone is trying to play loose and fast with EU rules about competition here!

After I complained, my dealer has given me a blank service book. Thank you Mr Dealer!

And yes, the auto start stop does fire back up when the vehicle in front moves.

They have removed their services, you can no longer get "Google Street View" or "Google Earth"

That was one of the main reasons I spec'd DNS Pro on my order and I think I can't change it now as my order is about to go to 'Confirmed' status according to my dealer.
