It takes up the spare wheel well, but I've just left spare in the boot as I don't put much in there anyway. But both don't fit in together unfortunately . As I said before it makes a massive difference well worth it.

That's unfortunate about not being able to fit the woofer in the spare wheel. I sometimes have the dog in the boot and always have 2 kids in the back so need the spare wheel to fit where it normally goes. I'm sure I read on here somewhere that someone managed to get it all to fit somehow.

It wasn't on here Steve, it was on the VW roc forum where I read it. Link above.

I did read that but I can't see how there is enough room as in not deep enough for both. I don't know how the dog would like sitting on it or maybe it would

Well had the helix fitted and I must say it's a huge improvement. Everything is much clearer, although I think I may have to fiddle with the bass a little as it's a bit to heavy for me. I've read there is a small hidden gain dial thing somewhere on the processor to adjust it but I haven't had a look yet. Money well spent and I highly recommend it .

Did you manage to get the bass level sorted out Steve?

Yes I did . I read on another forum about a tiny screw hole on th dsp unit which isn't labelled or anything.  That adjusts the bass level which has made it much more to my personal preference . Good job for forums ay otherwise would never have known about it.

That's good to hear mate, glad you got it sorted. I'm speaking to my local VW dealer next week to have a chat about maybe getting it fitted.

I would not touch the little unlabelled screw - the DSP can be programmed with a dongle to various car shapes.
Sure the dealer coded to the correct one?
I couldn't complain about too little bass on mine - tbh I am sometimes surprised how strong the glue is that holds the rear window in; as it looks like it's gonna get shaken off any second when I turn the volume up to 50%......

In case you think about fitting yourself - it's do-able but most guides out there are for LHD. They have radio unit on the right and fuse box on the left. Now the RHDs have both on the left, i.e. fuse box is where the LHD guide tells you to run the cable through. So a lot more needs to come out to put in the wiring loom. Takes you a full afternoon (the first time)!

Basically you need to get the glovebox out including trim, to get to all the screws the bezel for climate control, radio display etc has to come off, so does the trim (left side panel only) for the centre tunnel.

To comment on loosing the spare wheel - you loose the space saver. Not a big loss - I now just carry a small compressor and can of tyre seal. If I have a flat then I just call the lease company - technically I should not be fitting spare wheel to car myself anyway (company health and safety numpties). Plus a full size tyre doesn't fit in the hole in the boot anyway (great thinking VW - Where does the flat full size one go after you fit space saver???!!!).

I wasn't complaining about anything just saying the bass was a little to much for my liking. I don't want bass to shake my window or anything for that matter. By slightly adjusting the screw made a big difference to me . It was fitted by my vw dealer and was also programmed correctly , I stood and watched him do it with the dongle. I guess everyone's audio preferences are different...
