Apple CarPlay

I have set up Apple CarPlay on my new GTI through the USB. Are you able to have it wireless and if so how?

I think it's just me being stupid!

If it's still the same setup in the FL as previously, then no, you can only access CarPlay via a cabled connection, Bluetooth connection is not possible and launching CarPlay disables any running BT connections. Will be great though when they do finally offer wireless CarPlay, but no big deal having to use a USB cable.  Use of shortish cable routed down the gap at side of the closed central cubby keeps straggly wires at bay.

Someone on VWROC had this remedy to deal with cables.  http://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/17400-mk7-r-usb-cable-tidy-mod-by-csm7djs/

The new 5 series BMW is the first car to have wireless CarPlay I think.

Think wireless Car Play would just sap your phone battery so much, am guessing that could also part of the reason for it being a wired connection.

Yeah you'd need to have wireless charging which is fine if your on android but as Apple are still in the 20th century not so good for Apple users.

I use CarPlay and so bought one of these:

Holds the phone securely, as well as making the wired connection pretty simple each time.

That looks great, $94 for Apple connection. What was delivery time like, if they have them in stock?
