Got charged £650 for 3 years cover as part of the overall package, I couldn't be bothered to tell them that that's a joke, it was a way of them thinking they got one up on me because I constantly haggled down the overall price.

Cancelled the cover as soon as I got home and went with my previous provider Gap123 for better cover, half the price and 5 yrs worth of cover.

We went with DirectGap this time, as others have said less than half the price quoted by dealer for a far better cover imho

If the dealer can slash the VW price of GAP from £599 to £250 it just goes to show how much commission mark up they're loading onto their supplying insurer's net price. Worryingly, some customers will pay these inflated VW prices.

Personally, I'd always go for new car replacement GAP cover, so if the worst does happen, you can get a new replacement car with the claim money from your motor insurance and GAP insurance at the time of loss, rather than just get what you paid for it.

The dealers make more money from the add ons than the cars. Finance, GAP, paint protection, service packs etc.
