It also smacks of profiteering by some manufacturers jumping on the bandwagon.
Much like almost everything else then. I like to think that people are capable of a making a conscious choice on what they spend their money on, be it detailing, gaming, Golf or Golfs :-)
Beg to differ, there are an awful lot of gullible people, if you've ever been involved in retail which I was and to some extent still are, you'ld be amazed at what people waste cash on. No, most folks are not capable, hence the need it now, impatient throw away society we have, with individual debt at an all time high.
I'm of a generation of buy with your own cash and yes anilise (word of mouth, google and friendly forums!) each purchase worth or need.
As in buying car care products!
I was involved in retail for over 10 years (Whitbreads - wine trade) and like most things there are always gullible people that make for an easy sale, and who are very easily parted from their cash without much thought as to whether they need the things they buy. However I think within the car enthusiast community perhaps there is a little more thought goes into it, with the aid of good (and sometimes poor) feedback from like-minded individuals to help steep through mass offerings.
We do live in an increasingly disposable society these days - have the latest thing, want it now, get rid, replace it, and so on it goes. However part of detailing and car ownership is a bit of an antidote to that (for me anyway) as it's more about keeping hold of something for 3 to 4 years and keeping it as in best condition it can be, really enjoying it and looking after it, rather than chopping and changing every year or 2 or treating it with limited value.
Lol, reading between your lines, I think you must put me in the 'throwaway debt-ridden' category perhaps judging me on my level or type of detailing purchases but I also come from the buy with cash era (my car being an example of that) and do not spend beyond my means. With regard to buying detailing stuff, every purchase I make is for a reason and good reason to me. Each regular item in my detailing store has earned a place and many are long term investments (water filters, DA polisher, lances etc) . There is also another side to it - I do tests and review (independent - not on any payroll) products for a number of detailing companies at their request which means I have probably more 'stuff' than most. Additionally I like to compare products such as waxes etc, to see the difference and how they perform and deliver on the car and how they stack up against each other and against the manufacturers' claims. But all with the aim of caring for the car/paintwork etc. And that's how I choose to spend my hard earned cash.
But ETTO and always nice to be judged by strangers on the internet.
Hope not let you know when I use the stuff, I'm assured by more astute detailers than I on this forum that the items I've purchased are Mustard!
Nobody has assured you of anything, you asked for recommendations and members have taken the time to respond (btw always nice to say thanks when people made an effort to respond to requests for help, makes for a better forum). If that's your attitude why bother asking forum members for advice or recommendations, try stuff and make your own mind up.
