Mk7.5 Discover Nav Pro
« on: 02 May 2017, 17:59 »
Anyone received their Mk7.5 with the Discover Nav Pro option yet?

I have Nav Pro on my Mk7 and it seemed natural to spec it on my Mk7.5 original order which is now cancelled due to foglightgate.

Now I am re-ordering, I'm tempted to stick with the standard unit given some of the reviews of the Pro in terms of gesture control not being very good and the lack of the useful buttons down the sides.  It seems it might be better to forgo the larger screen in order to retain the buttons and volume knob etc.  Any thoughts or reviews?

I haven't got mine yet but one thing I do know is that with basic nav you can't have the map on the unit and displayed on the virtual dash... I perceived that as a shortfall.

Will see if I am right :-)

With the std nav, what happens on main screen when the nav map is displayed on the AID? I know for sure with the std nav unit you can still show maps on the AID.

It means you can have sat nav on your AID and then media/car play/radio/car info on your main screen. Do you really need two displays showing the same info?

The car can't be in two places at once so it would have to have the same info.

There are several different types of nav information that are all differently useful, maybe having more visibility would be useful, but we shall see :-)

With the std nav, what happens on main screen when the nav map is displayed on the AID? I know for sure with the std nav unit you can still show maps on the AID.

When you are in Navigation mode and show the map on the Active Info Display, you cannot show the same map on the main screen. However, you can show another view on the main screen (eg. radio, CD etc. ) if you want to (and keep the map on the AID).
Unless you are actually following a route (ie getting route guidance), then yes, the main screen is blank if you press NAV.

However (and this is a pretty good function), if you are actually following a route, and the map is displayed on the AID, the main screen shows a list of the next 3 turns you need to take, and the mileage to them. This milage counts down as you approach them.

So yes, not having the map duplicated may seem an issue, but you can always display something else on the main, and, if actually following route guidance, you get additional directional information on the main screen.

Note that if you are showing the map on the main screen, one of the button options is to toggle between AID and main screen.

Hope this makes sense......

Interesting. Thanks for sharing that.

That's the trouble with ordering early, you really haven't got a solid idea of what things do.

I'd like to hear anyone talk about the 7.5 navpro experience too... Surely someone must have one? Although I noted it's one of the least common options in my poll...
