Current delivery times?

After ordering early April, I finally have my confirmed build week of WC 31st July

Really strange how some are getting theirs in 7 weeks and others are going to be waiting about 20 or so. Makes me laugh that some have received a PP and that wasn't even available for order until a month after I ordered my standard GTI, which won't be here until 1st September.

Yes, it is absolutely bizarre - he says frustrated at the delivery of his new GTD... looks like 26 weeks for me!

I suppose many factors will influence delivery time, such as spec of car, port of arrival and transportation to dealer. Mine is a standard spec 5dr manual in Tornado red and I know my car was collected from Tyne within a day of arriving as the dealer had a few cars on the same shipment.
When talking to the dealer today, even he was surprised it had arrived so soon. Had a quick look around it in their workshop this afternoon and it looks even better than in the brochure. I took some photos, but can't figure out how to post them on here.

I ordered my GTI (White Silver, Brescia, 90% tiny and Velour interior) on 8th May. My dealer contacted me on Friday saying it will be available for collection W/C 26/06.

And additionally, if the dealer accepts customer orders in excess of their monthly vehicle allocation this can delay the build.

Assuming the dealer ordering system is still the same as it was for the mk6 Golf, dealers are restricted by VW to the number of certain models such as the Golf GTI they can order each month. If they accept more orders in a month than their allocation, those orders are carried over to the next (or subsequent months). So a customer can order a car in June, but if the dealer has exceeded their allocation, this can add a month or more to the build, as the order won't be placed with the factory until the following month or later.

I don't think the dealer would volunteer this information if the customer didn't ask for it; could mean the difference between then getting the sale or losing a potential customer.

I assumed it was dealer allocation, but despite me pressing both the dealer and VW UK, nobody wanted to say that...
