I can confirm that the tracker is about as useful as tits on a bull. My build week was 2 weeks ago and it's still saying it's in progress. Jumped on the chat today and was told that it's arrived on UK soil yesterday

Been told it can take 7-10 days from arriving in the UK to getting to the dealer? I'm hoping it'll be a bit quicker than that but just glad it's not still being built and the wait is nearly over.

Hi guys,

To add my story in to the mix:

I ordered a new GTI late April  (I think it was the 29th or 30th). I was told it was a 12-15 week lead time and to expect delivery mid August.

I spoke VW on the live chat thing and my provisional build date is the 21st August (wk 34), that build will take around 2 weeks and that could take up to 10 weeks on top of that for it to be shipped and delivered.

I appreciate that VW might be conservative - by my calculations, the worst I could be looking at is mid November.

Not impressed

If your build is in August you have to be prepared for the two week factory shutdown so that will drag things out a bit. Not great for you but unlike here most of Europe buggers off on holiday during August.

I ordered last week of April, current build week is 29 (end of July) so hopefully arrive in August in time for September 1st delivery.

Dealer advised it is now 'locked in' and can't be amended but awaiting build week to be confirmed,

I ordered it from an VW dealership - white silver 5dr manual with a reversing camera.

Maybe the reversing camera is my downfall.

Hopefully it will be sooner but I won't get too excited just yet.

I queried this with my dealer. He said reversing camera is a dealership fit, the factory just need to put the cable in.

Surely it would make more sense to have the camera installed at the factory.

The more I hear and experience VW dealers the more I think they are all sent to stupid school before being let near the public.

I asked my dealer at the time if there were any cars in stock but they were all without cameras. They said it wouldn't be possible to install it at the dealership.

I asked about alloys out of curiosity and they wouldn't be able to do that either.
