No worries. First time I've used DTD, but they were £2200 cheaper than my local dealer even after showing them the quote I had.

I'm up in the North East so not sure whether I'm going to go down for it when it's ready yet. The cost includes someone driving it up for me, but I'll decide nearer the time. Might see if I can get the dealer to contribute to my train ticket!
If it's on PCP or any kind of dealer-arranged finance, in my experience you will need to present yourself for collection anyway to sign the documents. This is what happened with my wife's Mazda via DTD and they refunded us the cost of a train ticket to Norwich.

Thanks. They said the finance can be sorted without having to attend in person. So maybe they do that via post then release the car the day after or something. I'll more than likely collect it, which I suspect will be quicker/easier all round, but it's nice to have the delivery option too.

My Octavia is leased via VWFS. Dealer scanned and emailed the finance documents to me for me to read, sign, scan and email back to them.

I recently picked up my Golf through DTD and the dealer will send you the finance forms for you to sign and scan back.
Good luck with the train ticket, they will give you a full tank if you pickup the car though.

Ah ok cheers. Wasn't sure if they needed original signatures as opposed to scans.

To be honest with a couple of weeks notice the train from up here's pretty reasonable anyway. Can usually get an advance for £50-60.

Even at that distance if it were me I'd definitely pick it up. The excitement on the journey down, the joy of seeing it for the first time then a fantastic drive all the way home getting to know your new pride and joy. It'll be fantastic

I'm starting to think this!

Plus I think I'd be gutted if I got it delivered and it turned up covered in dirt and dead flies!

I agree with Watts I'd go and collect the car ok it's going to be covered in kamakazi insects and road dust when you get home but that's the joys of driving then meticulously cleaning every last one off your paintwork lol.
I collected mine from my dealer albeit a new build and 40 mile trip but the buzz made it worth the run lol

Just ordered a 7.5 GTI Performance Pack from Lookers in Newcastle. They matched the online price and the delivery time quoted was 12-16 weeks. I'm coming from a Seat Leon Fr184 and was going to buy a Cupra 300 - I prefer the look of the Cupra but I don't want 19" wheels and the quality of the Golf is far higher. The Leon was £2500 cheaper online but the depreciation is horrendous.

I totally agree that picking it up yourself is the way to do it. This is my second Golf through DTD so first time I had to drive it back from Liverpool to South Wales. It's a fair trip but at least you get to know your car a bit. This time I got stuck on the M25 for a couple of hours so got to know it real well.
