As said, you would expect a car with a £900 paint option to be immaculate in that respect. I'd suggest getting them to do the chips - they'll have to anyway, and then inspecting the car. If it's not as you want it, walk away. There are plenty more cars out there.
As for other things to check, well, the wheels by the sound of things. The dealers chip guy will probably do those too. Surprised at the dealer, as they do have some really good people doing these things for them and it's best not to see the car before they're properly dealt with. I've seen cars of mine, after dealer prep, and thought that I should have got the cars sorted and kept them!
