Will you take advantage of the LSD and brakes? Can you wait until August delivery for a new car?

If you answer yes to both of those questions then wait for the performance, if no to either one then put an order in for the 230bhp model.

Options are all down to personal preference, I have gone for Brescia's, Dynaudio, 90% tints and Pure White paint. If I could have stretched my budget I would have gone for DCC and possibly the new half fake leather/alcantara seat jobbies.

Why bother with paying extra for tints. Standard windows are tinted enough. Put the money to better use on something else.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

Tints are only £90 and IMO the standard tints aren't dark enough but each to their own.

Many of the reviews suggest that the performance pack is not really worth it. The extra power just offsets the extra weight of the diff and bigger brakes. Therefore, it has the same power to weight ratio as non-PP GTI. Most say, for driving on the road it will make no noticeable difference.

Having said that - I'm waiting to order the GTI PP. I just want to try it. The extras include bigger brakes, VAQ Differential, 15hp and 20 more torque. It will also come with the new 7-speed DSG option.

Top of my options list is DCC. I have it on my Mk6 GTD and I would not order a performance Golf without it. The roads around me are just too bad.

My options list (in order of importance) -

DCC
5 door
Tow bar
7-speed DSG
Rear camera
Performance Pack
Keyless
Mudflaps
Full adaptive LED headlights + Lane assist

I only consider the top 3 essential for me.

If you need the bragging rights and (probably) red brake calipers with GTI written on them, wait.

Failing that, start the long old wait now.

BTW, I agree, the 90% tints make the car look like either a van (if its black) or a drug dealer's wheels if its white. The standard car comes with tinted rears that are darker but not chavvy. Have a look at one at a dealers and see what you think.

I guess the problem is that there aren't many cheap options on the 7.5. Even stuff like HBA is now £330 rather than £150.

Funnily enough the Golf GTI is one of the few cars I would not tick that many boxes.

PP and DSG would be on that list as I always thought the stock brakes were a bit marginal in the mk6 when on the autobahn

I had 90% tints on my Ed 35 and have to admit hated it for a few reasons, the view through the rear mirror was a lot darker than the wing mirrors so than stock tints and just felt a bit odd and you have to be very careful with the glass as the 90% just shows up the slightest of scratches. The Mk7 rear is so prone to catching dirt the rear wiper will work its magic on scratching to

Personal taste but I just never liked the look of the 90% against the fronts either

If I was ever truly bothered by the brakes, I'd probably swap them myself for something actually performance.

I've not seen any actual hard figures for the difference between the two OEM specs, but can't imagine its actually that much.

Nothing wrong with the standard brakes - I've Autobahn'ed my GTD loads of times. I'm still alive. They are hardly two pats of butter on a Teflon disk :D

In Sweden we only get the PP, for many year now :)

But the new 7speed and the bigger brakes and LSD is a big update. Do you don´t want all that in a GTI?!

How much extra is the PP in UK? :)

Interesting thread on R forum just been posted regarding options ticked that owners would not have ordered in hindsight, seems that 2 of the most popular options are *rear camera & *climate windscreen. Most other options opinion is divided and down to personal preference.
