OEM looking QI compatible Wireless charger for Golf 7
« on: 28 February 2017, 07:50 »
Copied from over on the R forum:

http://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/18647-wireless-charging-kit/

German company Inbay Systems has developed a custom set of inlays for wireless charging that looks factory made, including a unit for the MK7 Golf 's front cubby hole (like the new Golf 7.5).  However unlike the new VW system on the MK7.5 that costs £355.00 this is only around £65.00

Just a shame it's not currently done in right hand drive version (our USB sockets are on the left whereas elsewhere, they are on the right side of the cubby).

Hopefully by the time I get my next golf apple will have moved into this century and give us wireless charging so us using apple products can make use of it.

When I was using android and windows before I found wireless charging so handy and not just because I was too lazy to plug a wire into the phone but more the fact that I had my chargers countersunk into the underside of my tables so you couldn't even see the chargers.

Ah that's a shame as I would snap one up if they did it in right hand drive form.

VW really move the USB socket in the cubby hole for RHD???

BTW I was wondering last night actually, are the six buttons around the gearstick also swapped round for RHD or is the mode button actually designed to be that awkward to see and reach?

Just the start/stop button unfortunately.

I was also thinking last night.... "I wonder if I could swap those two banks of switches around"... maybe I have come up with a good RHD custom mod here :D

Equally and back on topic, is it not possible to swap the cubby hole USB port over to the other side? There has to be a part that makes up the back piece of the hole doesn't there? (I haven't gone outside to look...)

Fred, would require a complete cubby hole replacement I'm afraid as VW do hand them for RHD

LHD

RHD (shows MDI socket but it's the same for USB)

Also, with regards the switch mod, nice idea, but I'm afraid the switches are curved and slightly tapered therefore can only fit in one way round.

Quote why VW would go to the bother of handing the cubby hole in front of the gearstick, but not hand the main button banks (which are quite important such as driving mode and Traction control etc. is beyond me.

Hmmm I wonder how difficult that would be to do and how much the part would cost?

Bum. I didn't think of that.

I wonder if the logos for the buttons come as stickers? They must wear out and the buttons themselves must come blank as a spare because if the car doesn't have say park assist then the button would be blank.

I am thinking that you could probably swap the cable from left to right if you could get the buttons marked up correctly. I am sure the cable will carry three sets of wires regardless of (functional) options - it just makes sense from a production point of view.

I was thinking of getting one of them but as I'll be getting the next iPhone in September and it will be a redesign I don't see much point. Very handy for apple play though.

Just noticed that he has changed the design so you can have different size phones. When to order and he's out of stock
