Im currently modifying my GTI and have done a few mods so far. Iv got a Forge turbo muffler delete, Forge carbon fibre intake and APR stage 1 software. Dyno result of 334 bhp and 373ft/lb torque. I have a Scorpion downpipe with decat and IS38 turbo (bigger turbo from Golf R) but havent fitted them yet. Has anyone gone down this road yet?

A nice power gain, you never mentioned clutch in your upgrades, are you still running the standard set up with good results?

There's a healthy tuning community on the R forum, and I think that's the model most people will own if they want to extract more power as the GTI has traction issues as standard, never mind once tuned.
When trying a DTUK box on my PP GTI I could spin the front wheels through the first three gears and hardly move. I doubt that car was even at standard R power.
Obviously once rolling a tuned GTI is very quick but you've gotta get rolling first
It's easier to throw a few hundred at an R to get a useable 360bhp than it is to throw several thousand at a GTI to give it a less useable 360bhp.

And as madmanmart says, many are on finance or leased and most are still under warranty.

That's a lot of torque going through what I presume is a standard clutch - both the Golf and the R have a "just enough" clutch - plenty of GTIs getting to 300ish PS and Rs getting to around 360PS and cooking their clutch within 5k miles.

Unless you have bone dry roads and exceptionally good rubber, a 334Hp 2WD GTI is going to be spinning up a lot in gears 1-4.

Wise words from Mr Ex above.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Torque limited in 1st and 2nd to help wheel spin. Been remapped 7000 miles ago with no issues whatsoever and not even a smell of clutch burn. Dont gun it off the line I like the power once up and running. In the wet does spin in higher gears but its definately worth it. Guess it depends how you drive it regarding clutch

I'm fairly mild on mods - just a DTUK tuning box and a Milltek cat-back. The exhaust has (from reports and the bum dyno) absolutely no effect on the performance apart from making it sound like you're going faster and I'd guess the tuning box gives me somewhere around 310BHP going from the claims of DTUK.

Clutch wise I've had a couple of instances of it slipping. Worst of which was after sitting in stop start traffic for a while then driving in a slightly spirited manner causing slippage. Stopped for 5 minutes and drove a bit steadier and it was fine. Just don't go mad booting it at low revs in high gears which gives the clutch a hard time.

OP it would probably be worth investing in a DV+ too, as these have been known to be problematic on our cars. Especially as you're going to be running more boost with your IS38!

A bigger intercooler would be helpful too.

Just my 20p!
