Front assist/ACC
« on: 28 January 2017, 13:18 »
hello,

i am looking to purchase a MK7 GTI, however the one that i am interested in does not have the front assist Radar on the Grill. I thought this came as standard, however i cant seem to find anything that will verify this online. is anyone able to advise ? and if it is worth it or not ? Every other GTI i have looked at on Auto trader has the radar in the grill so im starting to think that the previous owner may have removed the radar for aesthetic reasons.

any advice is welcome

Early versions of the GTI did not come with it as far as i know so if it is an early 13 that would explain it.

The very first GTIs didn't have ACC for some reason. These were nearly all dealer demos or VW Press Fleet.

Here's the one my local dealer had in as a demo

Does the car you found have any sort of cruise control?

I think they look better without and I'm not particularly impressed by the technology either. I don't use cruise control, the brake assist is a pita (and should come with a laundry warning) - the only good thing is the reduction in insurance premiums.

I've got to agree with all of that.

Sure it's proper UK spec? On a 63 plate, it won't be one of the very early demos that came through without. My Dad's GTD was one of the first in the UK (registered 1st July 13) and had ACC. I'm pretty sure Irish cars didn't get ACC for quite a while.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

+1..Too much tech. not a lover of cruise control, perhaps its because I do not do a lot of motorway driving.
