That V8 engine goes into the bay front to back, as aposed to across (left to right) and is meant to drive either the rear wheels or all four wheels (Audi's Quattro system) so you'd need to modify the bulkhead, put in a tunnel for rear wheel drive shaft, new rear axel and new front axel whether your were powering the front wheels or not.

You might even have to look at a new chassis to cope with the extra weight and power.
And if you put it into a Cab, you'd have to do a lot to it to stop all those horses from twisting the car.

Could be fun though.

I'm fairly sure that one of the VW transplant specialists was going to do a V8 Golf project, but can't remember which.

hahahahaha - I love the replies....

Yes I am seriously looking into V6 and V8 options for the cab... and yes there will be serious mod's to the cab.... but a little hard work and help from our famous mate up north.... it will be a live and kicking car in 2006.... so watch out people for my new project which will be outlined to all in Jan06.....

using those components, it wouldn't be rocket science, mount the rover v8, and jag back axle on the rollin chassis (not too hard), then most of floor out of donor golf, then drop it over and stick a new floor in it, the send it to custom prop place at immingham, let them build custom prop and shafts, then roberts yer dads brother, monster golf, or you could use escort chassis, then mount cosworth engine and running gear and drop body back over, just need technical assist and superior welding skills of my older bro...
