Q1: Not very elegant, but you mute the radio (or media) by turning the volume down to zero. Has the same effect as a proper mute button, in that it also stops any media, such as music from an SD card, running. This then starts up, from where it left off, when you turn up the volume. This also leaves the nav announcement volume unchanged.

Q2: Pretty sure you can, but, without having a fiddle, not sure exactly how. Guessing it's in "options" when you start entering a new destination.

Thanks for your quick replies guys.

Q1: I had worked it out that turning down the volume worked but assumed such a sophisticated box of tricks would have something far better.

Q2: Mmmm so its back to fiddling with the buttons

When in remote areas on the Continent I find being able to use the accuracy of Lat/Long is a distinct advantage, even some locations in the UK are better located using numbers rather than a generalised post code.

Thanks again. 👍

I find the basic VW nav system more often than not will not even accept the full postcode - its a pretty useless piece of kit (and mine is a MIB2)!

Are you making sure you put a space between the first group and the second?

There do seem to be too many postcodes that are simply not in the Discover Nav database, such that the keyboard refuses the option of any input after the first few characters. I've had, what should be, postcodes treated that way, as well as obvious new ones. Could it be that the outfit who provide the Nav data are penny pinching on who they buy this from?

Hmm, not sure - I will check now!

Update - wow that worked!  Although it took me to a spot on a road just outside the next town!
Thanks for the info - no idea that you had to go back from 'input numbers' to 'input letters', hit the space bar and then back to the 'input numbers' page - unbelievably fiddly but it does allow it. Shame about the accuracy though!
