Clubsport S and wheel spacers
« on: 19 December 2016, 22:36 »
Was in the dealers tonight looking at the car and noticed just how much the wheels sit in - got me thinking about fitting spacers - purely for a more aggressive look. Do you think it's better left as it is as I wouldn't want to upset the handling or it would be fine to do so.
Seen these and from a bit if searching seems they would suit

I've fitted spacers to my GTI and I believe it does affect the way the car feels slightly but it's something you quickly get used to.
It makes the steering a bit heavier for sure.
Many other forum members have fitted them also.
If you intend to track your car I wouldn't fit them.
You are right though, the car will definitely look better with them fitted

So you've bought the fastest production front wheel drive car made to date and now you want to make changes that will slow it down? It will slow it down, because if it didn't chances are the car would already have a wider track...

Sean, If you over spacer it they car look a bit gangly

Speak to Shaun (Ducati) on Pure as he had been messing with spacers and now has the optimum look

If you read the post -I asked would it upset the handling as if it did I would not fit them.
You are also assuming it will slow it down however increasing the track could be a positive
Also there is no chance that VW would have made these cars a wider track than the Gti/R even if it was beneficial to the performance or handling mainly due the costs involved with design developing and testing

Shaun, i have a set of both 15 and 20mm TPI spacers sitting on my desk that we removed from our Golf R, if you want me to ship them across i will do if you want to test fit them?
