Car Play Issues
« on: 17 December 2016, 15:33 »
Anyone else having issues with CarPlay? Not sure if its the iOS 10.2 update but it has become very unreliable lately. Plug the phone in and its recognised and comes up with the CarPlay interface but the head unit music controls don't work half the time. Sometimes opening the phone music app and starting playing from the phone gets it working, other times have to plug/unplug the phone from the car a few times. Anyone else having issues with this?

Mines been ok most of the time but I did only upgrade to 10.2 this morning...

I find that Spotify, the one app I use most, is very flaky. I usually have to disconnect and reconnect at least once before it will play the tunes. But the native apple apps have worked fine for me.

Maybe your cable is faulty? The lightning cables are notoriously brittle.

How did you update to iOS 10.2? Not updating through iTunes can sometimes cause problems. You could always try going back to iOS 10.1.1 to check.

Yup I'm experiencing the problems as said above. With all the apps not just spotify. Weirdly though just changed from an iPhone 6 to a 7plus and seems to work much better???

My CarPlay has been running OK before and after the  iOS 10.2 update.

Think I might have found the cause of my issues. I had the phone paired over bluetooth to the car as well as using CarPlay. Noticed that if I were having issues with Carplay and then switched inputs to bluetooth and then back to CarPlay it would start working which got me thinking that the audio is getting confused as to whether to route over bluetooth or CarPlay through the cable. So I deleted the car from my iPhones bluetooth settings and touch wood have not had an issue for a couple of days. Hopefully that was the cause.
