Bottle jack recommendations

I want to get a bottle jack to speed up wheel removal as getting the supplied jack out is a pita. A bottle jack rather than a trolley jack as I'd like to keep it in the car in a case too. Can anyone recommend one? Ideally with a rubber puck to protect the sill jacking points as I'm sure regular use may lead to corrosion. Or if not a particular one any recommended brands or specs to look out for would be gratefully received.

I use this. Cheap, and works really well.
Also fits in left hand cubby hole in boot.

Cheers Kalimon, funny as I was looking at those. Do you not use something to protect the jacking point though? I'm concerned that regular use will remove the paint and lead to corrosion.

I don't feel it needs one to be honest.
I use a full size trolley jack for maintenance but this is far better than the supplied jack for emergencies.
It jacks the car up very easily and I'm sure you could buy a rubber puck of ebay

I've contacted sgs and put my concerns to them, see what they reckon. I also asked one of the puck sellers on ebay and they said the head on a bottle jack would be too small. Depending on what sgs say, I may go for another trolley jack (not ideal) or buysome underseal and keep the jacking points coated.

I can't find the link to the part numbers right now but Sootchucker's car (and a few others on here) has Audi jacking point covers retrofitted that are a permanent OEM attachment under the car.
Part number and price are on the forum somewhere.

Cheers Exonian, I have seen a post detailing those, I think that would be a last resort. I want to keep things simple and make removal of the wheels as quick and easy as poss with minimal damage. An eye on the budget too never goes far wrong in my book :wink:
