Just curious...what would that 'near new' one be really selling for?

At least they didn't leave it on the ground, they left it on stones and jack. What is curious is that with all CCTV and all that, nobody picked up on them. I would imagine that it took them some time to jack up the car with the crappy factory scissors jack and undo all wheels.

What is really shocking is how did they open the boot by smashing the driver's window and how did they silence the alarm? Unless the deadlock was not enabled on the car or they went through from inside the boot, I cannot see how they managed to open the boot.

LE: Has anyone noticed they also nicked the front brake calipers? Most probably PP calipers.

And yes, it is a GTI PP so they took the calipers.

I couldn't believe that £24k price, so I went looking.

VW dealers are really asking stupid money for second hand cars! Its almost like they want you to buy a new one on PCP instead...

The even more bonkers things are seemingly the margins on their second hand cars, because they didn't pay anything like that to the person they bought it from. They say you loose the VAT as soon as you drive from the showroom, so that's the £6k down on a £30k car, leaving £24k. Add some more discounts for some reasonable mileage, maybe 7k miles in 6 months drops it by another 1-2k? Then they buy for what, 18k? A six grand margin? That's got to be like 6 times what they make on a new one?
Current: Mk8 GTI DSG, Adelaides, DCC, HUD, HK, Winter Pack, Rear Camera.. Aka "HMS Weasel"

Gone: 2017 Mk7.5 GTD,manual, NavPro
Gone: 2014 Mk7 GTD, manual, NavPro, DCC

It's their Ex-Demo so they get standard margin and then 5% defleet in addition. Car lists at £30920 for GTI PP 5dr with Santiagos and Metallic. Total margin is circa £5600 (19.5%) so it owes them £25320 + cost of MPC & Assist topup, advertising & paying the salesman less whatever they have accrued in depreciation writedown for the last 7 months - normally 2% a month or £500pcm. So 6 x £500 (don't pay on the first month) = £3000. So assuming £250 for the mpc it owes £18808.33 after vat and a sale at their advertised price of £24994 would get them £20828.33 after vat leaving them with a profit of £2020 if they achieved screen price. Mind you they still have to pay the salesman, the valeter, the finance company and the advertising out of that. Given that the car has already cost them £2500 in writedown after vat it doesn't sound too bad to me.

I doubt they will get screen price for it though.

If you can buy them for £18k then I'll take as many as you can get as it is £23400 CAP Clean in December.

Hmmm maybe my rant was a little of a rant last night :)

Interesting breakdown of the price there though.

You say the CAP clean price is £23400? Not the CAP retail? In which case that's a cheap price.

Cap Retail is £25500. It is only a guide though and can't really be used on a car that new as it is only a guess rather than based on solid auction data. You can buy the car brand new off orangewheels for £25554 after discount and dep cont. I think it's a fair price but not a cheap price.

Come to think about it its quite expensive for a car with no wheels or brake calipers
