I never got the whole oak green MK2 thing either.

It's a strange one. I could never imagine choosing an Oak Green GTI back in the late 80's early 90's. Red was the predominant go faster colour, but now it somehow works. Maybe it was a colour ahead of it's time.
When I was looking for a mk1 in 1990 Lhasa Green was the most sort after colour by a huge margin on it. So I can understand why the mk2 was popular new in green at that time.

The "problem" with the darker greens is that in most of the dull weather we get in the UK, the colour just seems too dark - needs sunshine to really come alive

That being said, I have a soft spot for green and would have loved an Oak Green Mk2

Plus, a lottery win would see me order a Porsche 911 in 'Paint to Sample' green like this...I'd give precisely zero sh!ts what anyone else would think

My second ever Golf was a 1983(1800) in Lhasa.I remember buying a touch up stick from Hawco in Elgin and it was the biggest mismatch ever!.Some plonker used to have one round those parts and he'd painted the alloys white.
I know the Campaign done a helios blue. But i swear i once saw a Mk1 Campaign in Monza Blue at the Renault dealer on the outskirts of Perth. It was pretty new at the time.Maybe my memory has clouded with the passing of time!.

I have strong dislike of anything green due to my football allegiances so its a definite no from me. A nice bright Orange would be nice though ;-)
