^If the car is being fixed under warranty by a VW garage, i'd expect considerations to have been made regarding replacement or repair of other parts - dealerships don't mind spending VWs money on warranty work. As it is, the car has so many safeguards, it would've put that warning up long before there was any fear of a warped head or blown gasket (or worse).

Still good grounds to reject the car, considering how quickly it happened after pick-up.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Very true. It's the kind of hassle you'd expect after buying a £200 banger from Gumtree. Not from a 2 year old Golf bought from a reputable garage.I'm sure VW will give it the full works.

Some good news guys! Had a call this morning. The car had been with VW dealers since tuesday afternoon. I actually met with the owner of the dealership where I bought and as I drove in to meet him, VW guys were just having another check of the car. Water pump replaced and car working perfect!

I picked it up at just after 3 and im not long in. Coolant gauge never moved from 90 and the whole time I had the engine oil temp on the main display. Highest temp it showed was 101 degrees. Mixture of bumper to bumper traffic and nice motorway blasts. Sport mode rocks!

Car is absolutely amazing I love it! Keep finding little gizmos. Getting out of the car there i just realised theres little compartments under the seats lol love the lights on the doors and under the wing mirrors and the way they fold when i lock the car.

Not a creak or a rattle from the car and pulls like a train!

So fingers and everything crossed it stays this way !!!

Cheers for all your help guys :)))))

Glad you are pleased and let the dealers sort the problem out. At the end of the day, whether you are buying new, 1 year old or older a car can have problems. Yours seemed fairly straightforward and is now sorted! I 'm sure you'll be enjoying it for years to come  The compartments under the seats are completely useless other than for the transportation of battenberg cake slices

Glad to hear it all worked out nicely in the end Jonny. The garage you bought it from had it's good reputation to keep up and they seem to have done so.Shark infested waters out there.
My fav 'secret' compartment is just to the right and underneath the steering wheel.Took me 6 months to even notice it was there.
Check the alloy wheel key adaptor is in the boot beside all of the other bits.
You will enjoy!.

Only had the car 12 days and already ive drove over 1000 miles :) Car is amazing, Love it. Paintwork is in excellent condition. Alloys are in good condition, a few little marks here and there, only 1 major scuff mark. Interior is spotless too. Love the button handbrake.

Due to the waterpump issue, I have had the engine oil temp constantly on display and the highest Ive seen was 101 but it generally stays around the 90/95 mark.

I have noticed some little funky noises coming from the right hand suspension going over speed bumps but to be quite honest, this is my 4th Golf and i have drove any amount of Golfs as courtesy cars getting cars serviced or work carried out and every single one of them has let out groans or had a little creak going over ramps so im not too bothered.

Heres a few pics!

Cheers again for all your help :)
