Available to order from March with first deliveries proving June or July. You should get a tracker number with a provisional build week immediately after the dealer has placed your order.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

I thought that they would be on sale from March so that would mean build weeks starting at the beginning of the year.
I read "available to order" from March... which is different.
Why can't VW be more professional about sales, including their dealers which are some of the most useless I have come across and even their builder website has mistakes.
The dealers a franchises to Volkswagen UK and whilst VW UK can try and impose standards on them they are independent entities. You'll find some good, some bad and some mediocre. The website is down to VW UK...
I contacted the dealer I ordered from yesterday and told them that if I don't have my tracking number by this evening I'm going to cancel the order. I made an appointment with the sales guy yesterday and when I turned up spot on time I was told he was on lunch and that he would ring me when he came back. Needless to say I have not heard off anyone yet.
So, did you cancel the order or was it an idle threat? The dealer has no control over whether or not you get a tracking reference once they have submitted the order, so you are threatening them with an action if they fail to provide you with something that is outside of their control.

VW UK told me that it is down to the dealer to get me the tracking number so there again is another instance of them being wrong, if your information is right. As well as their information about whether the car would be a facelift, if the facelift is going on order from March then there would obviously be no chance of my car being a facelift so why say that there is a good chance that it will be. As for the idle threat, it isn't and if they haven't got back to me by 'as stated' this evening I will cancel the order.

That is what I was originally told by the dealer when I was looking to place the order but after being told so many different people including VW UK that all I would like is my tracking order because VW UK say that they will be able to tell me for sure.

I'd say that if they say your car has a good chance of being a facelift and you haven't got a confirmed order yet that there is going to be a gap for retooling... simple as.

I'd find it unlikely that they'd have a 6 month production stoppage on a model, but stranger things have happened before.

You won't know until you get an order number and even then you won't know until the factory actually plan the production, which doesn't happen until a few weeks before they actually build it.
Current: Mk8 GTI DSG, Adelaides, DCC, HUD, HK, Winter Pack, Rear Camera.. Aka "HMS Weasel"

Gone: 2017 Mk7.5 GTD,manual, NavPro
Gone: 2014 Mk7 GTD, manual, NavPro, DCC

I was speaking to a colleague a few minutes ago and he suggested I try a dealer where he knows a one of the sales guys. He rang them and they have an order for a GTD confirmed build week 12/12 in tungsten silver, sport and sound pack and car net app but nothing else. If I don't hear back from the dealer by this evening I will be taking the car in the morning and hoping for a late Christmas or early new year delivery but the sales guy did say that it could well be as late as February delivery in which case I will wait until march for the new plate. Happy days.
