It's with the factory!
« on: 13 October 2016, 09:38 »
Morning All,

I had my order number confirmed yesterday, so I checked it out this morning:

Pretty excited tbh, my first brand new car..

Slightly worried it says Titan Black under Upholstery, but I have read this is normal.

Can anyone give me a rough idea, based on experience, how long the process takes from order to delivery?

Cheers,

Scott

Congratulations.
Yeah the Titan Black is normal.
You will get "Build week confirmed" roughly 4 weeks before it starts to be built.
At that point you can't change or add to your order.
So how long between ""With the factory" and "Build week confirmed"?
Depends on quite a few variables, like does the dealer have any allocation left.
In simple terms they can only order say 5 GTI's a month so if they have already used their allocation of 5 cars that month you would be the following month.

How many weeks were you told as you can roughly work back.
Build stage to picking it up they say up to 4 weeks.
Build stage 1 week
With the factory to build stage 4 weeks.
So thats 9 weeks straight away although the final stage can sometimes be as little as 2 weeks.

You can also go on to VW's online chat and ask what your provisional build date is. This will give you a rough idea.

Hope that helps/

Just had my Build Week confirmed - Week 46..

Quite glad, as I didn't fancy my car being built just after Christmas, and just before New Year, when people don't really put 100% into their work shall we say haha.

Mines the same now. I asked in the middle of last week to add the climate windscreen to my order and then found out on Saturday that the manager who deals with that was off last week. Anyone know if orders can be changed once build week confirmed had happened.

The ' build week confirmed ' point has always been where no changes to that order are accepted ( from my own experience in the past )

Unless the system is more flexible but I doubt it.

That's right, once confirmed for production it cannot be spec ammended. In fact a week or so going confirmed its goes to a state called frozen for production which again means it can't be changed.

The only hope is if your dealer lets you completely order the car again, however it will be then at the higher price if there was a price increase......
