Wheels?
« on: 04 October 2016, 19:30 »
Looking to get a new set of alloy wheels and spotted these when browsing images in google but unable to find out what they are...  They are similar to tallagedas but imo I think these look nicer.

Anyone able to identify these wheels?

Sorry about the photo but that was the best I could get.

Ha ha ha!
I really should "get a life"!!

If buying replicas try and go for European made ones such as from WSP (Italy) as they'll be of more predictable quality. There are also a few German wheel makers that do a very similar style, just different enough to avoid copyright laws, but I can't remember which makes offhand.
If you've got a spare hour look on felgenoutlet.de where you can see most styles on your car.

If buying genuine Audi wheels be careful of the offset. That style of wheel was fitted to a few Audis including the TT(RS?) if I remember correctly.
You can get away with fairly low offsets on the rear of a Golf 7 but the front will only take up to around ET40 if you're running 8" wide and 235 tyres. 8.5" wheels I'd guess around ET45 should be ok but I've not tried.

Nooooo, don't get a life.... who else would we turn to!

Thanks for the advice, that is really helpful. Was browsing some on ebay and the price differs quite a bit for the reps and all I could find for the genuine ones were 20".

I'll check out that site at the weekend when I have more time but is it going to spoil me with a lot more choice and then I won't know which ones to get!

I'm running 18x8 BBS CK's at the moment which are nice but feel like something new. Which are the better quality brands out there? There are so many to choose from  :undecided:

I ran 19" BBS CK's (previously ran on my mk6) on my PP for a while.
If you google BBS CK Golf my car usually appears!

There are quite a few half decent brands but it's hard to recommend wheels to people as tastes vary so much.
BBS do a few newer designs that suit the mk7 well. The SR's look good and Gnasher runs a set of those. There's a new design called SX that are very similar to Audi wheels that look good and will suit a Golf.

I quite like BBS XA's too, but again they're similar to Audi wheels.

AEZ Raise are fairly similar to the XA's and also bear more than a passing resemblance to R Pretorias but have a little more style in the design. Some will prefer the simplicity of the Prets and some will like the detailing of the Raise.

I also really like the MAK Wolf wheel.
That design looks very OEM as did the Rondell 02RZ's I had on my GTI.

I could go on for hours...

Stop it Ex - you're killing me!!!

Too many to choose from!

I do like these two though - they are very nice. Not really into the polished look and prefer a solid colour

I was originally considering Himalayan Grey SR's but I am unsure on that colour with my CSG....

Then I really like these Vossen CV5 but smallest size is 20x9

This may take me sometime to choose

There are styles similar to the Vossen in a smaller diameter.
I dread to think how much 20" tyres are!
AEZ do a similar wheel, the Portofino in 19"

It would have to be between the SX and Wolf for me out of those but there are quite a few other styles I like.

Morning All

Looking to get some BBS SR 19s but do I need to added the TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring systems) for the added price of £170..?

Does anyone know whether the locking wheel nuts that come with the standard GTD wheels will fit the BBS SR's or again is this something I will have to add to the order..?

Thanks
Steve

Glad I spotted this, can answer both questions as I've done exactly that!

The type of TPMS fitted to the golf doesn't use the sensors in the wheels - it just works on the rotational speeds of the wheels, therefore no sensors.

Wheels bolts - the types of seat are different (Standard wheels = Ball seat, BBS = Tapered seat). Therefore whatever you do, don't use the standard locking bolts on them.

BBS Supply wheels bolts but not locking one's. Also, I thought the wheel bolts supplied looked a bit 'non OEM' so I popped to the Skoda garage and got a set of wheel bolt covers and removal tool. Can't remember the price but they were pence each - definitely less than £20 for all of them and the removal tool. The standard wheel bolt covers don't fit in the holes in the wheels.
