That sounds promising. Let the wait commence!

I popped in for a GTI test drive on Monday and was told it was typically 3 - 4 months delivery time at the moment.

No didn't mention anything although I've got a feeling the dealership have a build slot and are going to change it to my spec.

Even an order from scratch is unlikely to take more than 4 months right now if you're not after anything that often has part availability issues (like sunroof). Allocations are easy to come by now, unlike when we first ordered, and VW are doing all they can to avoid pissing off their loyal customers post-dieselgate. You may well have it before Christmas.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Congratulations on the colour choice.  Along with the greys the best colour to complement the red calipers and badges. I went for the GardX paint protector as well which many say is a waste of money, but it does scrub up well and I can't be too bothered with the hassle of waxing etc.

No, found out today they haven't even placed the order!!. It'll be going in on Tuesday. 2 weeks of wasted time since i first went to dealer and said yes to order. Never mind, means I pay more off the Tiguan and the nearer it arrives to February I'll be asking for it on a 17 plate!😃

The other plus point is you will now probably get any build week 45 extras unless they modify an existing allocated slot.

I think even if they modify one it'll still be after week 45 for a build slot. I just hope vw don't decide to remove things  or worse still ruin the looks with the update.

Seeing as though the dealer I'm going with hasn't ordered my gti yet is it likely to get a bw after week 45?? If so will it end up being a face lift model?

I think you'll be quids in Chris - VW's prices are only going one way - up! They'll likely justify it by adding a bit of extra tech as standard, but if you get a facelift model for an order placed pre-facelift, you'll not be paying any extra for it.

Doubt you'll get a pre-week 45 build now, considering how close we are to it and they can't change the spec of one in the system once the build week is locked down (that's either a fortnight or a month before the actual build week - I used to remember which when the R was on order and I was checking the tracker very frequently)

Not condoning it, but I suspect that if Mick hasn't ordered yet, it is to place the order in October, a pretty quiet month for most dealerships after the rush of the new September plate, everyone's thinking about how skint Christmas is about to make them.
