Passenger wing mirror removal
« on: 30 September 2005, 12:59 »
hi all. I am thinking about removing my passenger wing mirror as i saw a couple of cars at ed38 with this done (and i smashed mine anyway the other day backing off my drive ). Does anyone know if vw do a blanking plate? did any base model golfs come with only drivers side mirrors? or will i have to try make one myself? also am i likely to encounter any probs with my friendly local mot man?

cheers for any advice

what car is it on? later mk2's (with one piece windows) do/did have blanking plates available. might have to check vw. they are pretty rare, was a set on ebay that i was watching. 99p for the week then shot up to £17 in the last hour!!!

probably find they are in stock in vw for a few quid or something!!

buy one of the plates for the M3 style mirrors you can get in halfauds, Fill the screw holes and the small recess with P41, smooth it down, get it painted then fit it to your car and bobs your uncle :)

why not cut the old bust mirror off the base, then skim hole in, and prime and paint satin black, i'm gonna make a pair for mine this way, just take drivers 1 off for shows.....
