my golf gti mk4 aum 1.8t come up with a fault eml come on and the car revs to 1200 and stays there put the air con on goes down to 800 and stays turn that off and unplug the maf runs at 1000 once maf plug is off plug back in goes back up to 1200 and holds there anyone know the issue? any help would be great!

leak?

O2 wont help fuelling. Id look at maybe a split vac pipe. Can you live data the maf, see if its changing while revving. Or a easier way do you know someone with a working maf just to swap and try

my dads just brought a gti as welll so going to swap mafs and see seems to drive fine just the lights on and revs at 1200 and holds there cant seem to fine any leaks not sure where to look

There are a load of vacuum pipes on these engine that overtime will split. Most swap out for silicone instead of the rubber so they cant split again. 1St thing I do when I have 20vt
