VR6 head Re-build....

Just had a quote from a place in grimsby called service engineers, Head specialists, to re-build my head if i take it in complete, inc de-coke, new valve stem seals, new lifters, and re-seat the valve, just under £230, what a price,it will be done soon, Vw wanted just under £800, just to re-build with stem seals.....

If you are good enough to remove/refit the head on a vr then why not rebuild it yourself?  :wink:

because as far as i understand the lifters are pressed in to the head,thus making it not a diy job, and if i pay sum1 else to do it, if it f00ks up, then i get a claim in...... :wink:

The only thing pressed into the head are the guides, these probably won't need replacing.
Remove/refit of the head is a hard job in itself.

still takin it to local garage to be removed and fitted anyway, don't like mucky work, i'll stick to bodywork..
