Alloy wheel refurb - dull colour.
« on: 06 September 2016, 17:55 »
Had a wheel refurbished today and as you can see from the pics the black spokes as dull and cloudy looking ( apart from one that is bright black) I've emailed the dealer , but just wondering why they are like this. Any idea?

I have to agree with Joe, looks likes lots of overspray and dulling of the lacquer. Im guessing you did try cleaning it to see if it will shine?

I've not touched it with anything yet. Not sure what to use or just wait and see what dealer says. It's a main dealer with an approved body shop so was expecting more from them tbh!

Id try a little cutting compound see if it shifts it. If its main dealer id expect it to be like a new wheel

So would I for £120!  I'll see what response I get from them first before I try anything on the wheel

Don't polish it yourself. That's a poor refurb job and needs to be taken back, so if you touch it with polish, there's the reason for them to wriggle out of getting it rectified.

Agree i damaged one of mine a week ago, still to go in, that just looks like a poor job. don't touch it in any way and get them to look at it and agree another refurb.

Wow! It looks like a layer of brake dust or other depisited crap is trapped under the lacquer on the black bits. Get it back
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
