I just managed to kerb mine trying it out for the first time. I don't think I'll be using it again!

I glad I opted for the rear camera instead of park assist after hearing this.
It sounds seriously flawed and a gimmicky waste of money

So is the camera. The graphics and beeps of the standard parking sensor are more than adequate for the job (giving a good feeling of distance from obstacle) rather than the "toilet roll telescope" view of the camera.

The rear sensors on my estate are useless, the go to continuous beep loooooong before you get anywhere near an obstacle. I can park closer without sensors. Camera gives you a fish eye view.... which allows you to get an awful lot closer without the annoying beeping.

Parking sensors are s**te. They make me nervous when parking and definitely contributed to the incident when I pranged my wing. I used to park my Audi just fine with no sensors or cameras as all my older cars too which were all bigger than the GTI.

Couldn't possibly disagree more. The camera is excellent imo, I'd have it every day of the week over the sensors. Granted it is much better with the  larger higher resolution screen on the MIB2 units.

I disagree with most comments on here, park assist works just as says in the manual every time I use it, parks about 4-6 inches from the kerb. Camera is useful too especially with the large pro screen.

I had it fitted but in 3 months of owning my GTI I haven't actually used it.

I do find the camera very useful though.

If the car in front or behind isn't parked properly then the park assist system will park like they are. So the car behind is on the kerb then your car will be parked the same. You need to check how the other cars are parked too. Camera is always the first thing I spec because for the money is a cheap handy factory extra that's a pita to retro fit.
