Hi I have had my GTD for a little over a month (brand new), and I have noticed when I drive on a straight flat road, my steering is not fully straight as it is to the left about 2-3 degrees. I'm pretty sure it was like this when it was new. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, because it may have been a factory error, can I take it to my local VW dealer so they can align it for free?

Thanks

If you are concerned they should check it at very least, but are you sure it's not the road camber, that will make all cars pull to the left generally and the camber of the road can effect some cars more than others

Are you saying that the steering wheel is not on straight? If you are, that is definitely not right and needs to be corrected by the dealer. Not dangerous, but not as it should be!

VAG cars used to have a tendency to pull slightly , allegedly to compensate for road camber, but both my mark 7s have not done this.

It won't be that the steering wheel is on wonky, if there is an issue it will be with the tracking.

To answer your question, the dealer may/or may not fix it for free if they feel that it has gone out of alignment by the customer hitting a kerb or similar, however this is unlikely as the wheel/tyre would often show signs of this impact. (unless you have hit a kerb obviously). However it is important that you don't leave this for long without visiting the dealer to rectify it soon, as the longer you leave it the more chance the dealer would say it wasn't like that when new.  IMO I don't think you would have a problem explaining that it was something you noticed as you were getting used to the new car, and you want it sorted for free.
