Location of bluetooth module
« on: 23 July 2016, 12:42 »
Hi all,

New to this all... tried solving this problem myself, but ran out of ideas (and patience!) so decided to turn to you lovely people!

My car battery died (I left the glovebox open) and had to be jumpstarted last weekend. Ever since then my bluetooth capability on my RCD510 radio has not been working. I hit the 'Phone' button and it simply mutes, rather than bringing up a dialogue screen for my mobile. I tried everything I could think of, factory reset, repairing phone and nothing sadly. Iv found a few american forums suggesting that the problem can be solved by reseting the bluetooth module- so simply unplugging the power / connection lead. However, finding the damn thing is another story... in some golf models its under the passenger / driver seats. Sadly thats not the case for me... I have tried removing the carpet panels and I dont think its down there. Does anybody know where VW might hide the bluetooth module?

My local dealer was no use- they hadnt heard of this issue and wanted £200 just to look at it (and additional to fix it). Id loathe to hand over that amount of money for a simple fix. If anyone knows where this module is id be very grateful!

Btw my golf is a an 2010 mk6 tdi.

Cheers,

Mark.

Hey Mark,

If the Bluetooth Module is not under the driver side seat then I can only assume that Bluetooth was not fitted to your car from the factory. This would probably mean it was a retro fit, I would check behind your head-unit (RCD510) I'm guessing your Bluetooth module is resting in there.
