Anyone driven the MK7 R?
« on: 21 July 2016, 15:37 »
Hi guys,

I took an R out at today for a test drive and really liked it. Been thinking about changing cars next year.

I also took an S3 saloon out a few weeks ago. I found it fast but a bit too refined if that makes sense.. not very engaging.

I'm loving my remapped GTI but can definitely feel the limitations of the front wheel drive.

Has anyone else driven an S3 or R yet? I thought I would prefer the Audi but there still something drawing me to the Golfs!

Have you looked in the Mk7 section?

Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Great review, read it last night. I see you mentioned a trip to Windsor. I live in Bracknell which is not far. There have been two great shows I would recommend, Dubs at the Park and VAG at the Manor. Both a great day out at Easthampstead Park House.

Prices are coming down on the R, hoping to get my money's worth out of the gti as I've spent a bit improving it then get one next year.

Plenty of time to work on the wife!

That trip to Windsor seems like an age ago. They sound like good shows.

I've had the R 10 months now and it's just got better and better.  I intend to do an update review in that thread at the 1 year mark.  Next year there should be a fair few R's from the early cheap lease deals coming onto the market, so probably a good deal to be had.  But in the meantime, start working on the wife, and carry on enjoying your GTI.
