« on: 14 July 2016, 16:51 »
Hi guys, I have a mk2 golf gti 1987. It has the external k jet fuel pump, ridiculous thing! The fuel housing is leaking again! Can I swap it out for a different kind of pump? Which will work? Mot due  info please 😊

You could try a high pressure inline fuel pump instead. Would have to mach the fuel pressure required for the engine.

Cheers lemski, I'm not sure how to find out what fuel pressure I need but I'll look into it 👍

I have fitted my new pump. When it's on the stands it starts and runs. Back on ground still runs. On ground turn engine off, won't start again ?????

Could you do something similar to me and upgrade to a mk3 fuel tank with the pump inside the tank?

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Th K-Jetronic system used up until 1988 on the 8v cars, as well as right to the end on the 16v cars, runs at significantly higher pressure than the Digifant system.

Whatever option you go for, make sure the replacement pump system will work and is suited.

I learnt this lesson on my South African VW Caravelle, which also uses Bosch K-Jetronic system, when i needed to source a suitable replacement pump back in 2011.
