You have complete control over your throttle, mine is a gti pp and I have no worries.

Having just bought a '63 plate PP GTI I'm reading this thread with interest. Will fitting a pedal box affect my used car warranty from VW? Also, I am an absolute know nothing when it comes to fitting one of these!
VW won't see the pedal box, just switch it off before routine dealer visits if you're overly worried by I left mine in situ and even switched on when I dropped it in for service and it didn't get noticed. It can't affect your warranty as it doesn't change anything other than pedal sensitivity.
If you're going in for warranty work on the ECU or engine then maybe switch it out or even remove it in case it's spotted, and if you're going in for work that will require the dashboard coming out then definitely remove it!!
Aside from that there's nothing to worry about.

Fitting is easy, follow Booth11's guide, removal can be a bit of a headache on the earlier models with the flimsy connector but just inserting a small screwdriver into the clip and giving it a slight twist and a push will see it removed in seconds.

Thanks Mr GTD! Not sure why I didn't spot that myself "hic", must be the Rjoca affecting me minces...

Cheers golfhappy, £50 is very tempting, I've got to retire now as have to be in work tomorrow before 6am so I'll give it some thought.

Anyone got any observations regarding use of the box and traction in the GTI at this time of year? Surely it makes the traction control go mad off the lights as effectively you are putting your foot down harder?

As buddfridge says, you have complete control so you just learn to push the pedal down less which makes driving far more pleasurable as the car becomes much more responsive.
On the extreme settings it's a bit jerky at times in stop start driving but anything other than that and it just feels like it's how it should have come out of the factory.

Fitting guidance here. http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=276517.0  Actually it's vidman's guide that I just populated with a few pics.  The later pedal boxes have a red oem type clip in place of the grey one I believe so are easier to fit now, but the procedure is the same.

Honestly it's the best money you can spend on your car.  If I could have only one mod, it would be this no contest, because on a daily basis you have the benefit it brings.  Quite why the mk7 Golf did not come off the production line like this is a mystery, but fortunately one resolved with £150 notes.  Avoid the most extreme setting and you'll be fine.  When mine went in for 1st service in Oct, I switched it off, chucked a microfibre over the control unit in the driver's storage cubby, and the dealership were non the wiser.  On collection I forgot to switch it back on straight away, and what a sluggish drive that was!

So, a bottle of Timothy Taylors finest, a bottle of some non-descript IPA and now a Chauteauneuf-du-Pape on the go and the impetus overtook me - pedal box on order with DTUK. Thanks all for the advice and comments.

I must be the only person that thinks the throttle is ok from the factory. Granted I've only got 500odd miles on the clock but it's not dull or unresponsive.

You're absolutely correct McMaddy, the throttle is okay from the factory but why settle for okay when you can have lightening fast?

Try one for a week. It makes a big difference. I would send you mine but like I've said numerous times, my wife who is only interested in driving from A to B won't give me my pedal box back after trialling it.

When I get back into my GTD after using her car for a while it feels like mine isn't firing on all cylinders.

That's exactly how I've felt but having read so many positive reviews I thought I must be missing out! Perhaps you could have a word with Andrew at DTUK who posts on here and see if you could pop in and try one? His signature says Durham so not far for you?
