I might actually go for a pedal box too thanks to buddfridge's enthusiastic post and Exonian's excellent explanation. Will have to wait for my piggy bank to fill up a bit first after some recent bills and irresponsible spending!

Just  quick update, the pedal box is working really well and I am enjoying the car much more, as far as wearing lead boots it's not that simple because it actually speeds up the response from pedal to clutch and you still feel that delay even when flooring the pedal.

I am now enjoying driving with a really light foot and have all the power I need with just a light touch of the throttle...not for everyone but it's made driving the gti much more pleasurable for me, it really does feel quicker too and just more thrilling to drive.....a driver's car.

So, just for reference, what settings are you using on the throttle box, Budd?

Sport+ with two lights, I thought it was to aggressive at first but a couple of days later I have changed my mind and I am really enjoying quicker acceleration with much less pedal effort as well as relaxed driving just feathering the pedal. I actually like the option of switching it off when the cold weather arrives...that's a must for me , and as yet I haven't switched the car driving mode of sport but I will try this at some point.

My friend has had a new R For a few weeks and is not enjoying the pedal either so I give him a drive yesterday in my gti and he was amazed how alive the throttle response is now, he actually thought it felt quicker than his R and is now going to get one himself. It's hard to describe what happens because it isn't the same as planting your foot down...it's just quicker and all the power without having to really press down heavy..actually something just come to mind the feeling of of this is like riding a bike on flat ground and pedalling hard then you hit a nice slope and it just goes, you feel that same energy and excitement...it's still the same equipment but your buying the slope.

I'd be a little bit wary of taking your setting to the extreme, i.e Sport+ with 3 green lights.  That's the max setting and I was warned off using that by the person that loaned me my pedal box.  The bloke whose car it was on before mine had it on max and the throttle safety kicked in.  It is actually mentioned in the user manual, that it can cause EML to come on and car to go into LIMP mode.

See in this bit of manual:

Rest of manual for anyone interested in the available settings. Also added this to the fitting thread in Maintenance.

Does the Queen have a pedalbox on her Bentley? Apparently Sport Plus gives "sovereign" acceleration!

That made me chuckle too.

Decided to take the plunge too and get one but then re-decided and went the whole hog!

Now I just need this rain to stop so I can get them both installed. Wish I had a garage

Waiting impatiently for the OMG moment....
