Baby seat question
« on: 17 June 2016, 11:15 »
Quick question for all the Mums and dads out there.

I currently have one three year old who is in a forward facing car seat which is belted in to place behind the passenger seat. My wife is expecting our second child early December and the new baby's car seat will be set on an ISOfix base behind my seat.

I am looking to move on to a R. Question is, I am 5'11" and with my driving position I'm not entirely sure if the seat will fit.

Does anyone currently use a MK7 with 2 child seats.

Hi,

I have been using IsoFix and Maxi Cosy combo behind me and although the drivers seat doesnt slide all the way back when Maxi Cosy is in place, i just about managed.

I currently have the Iso Fix behind me but with a beast of a forward facing Britax and no problems.

Its not the IsoFix base that restricts the movement of the seat but the actual MaxiCosy

I always slde the chair back before i get out and i am 5ft 9'

Put the rear facing seat on the passenger side? Its this that limits the travel of the drivers seat.

I expect that you are going to say that your wife in the front passenger seat needs to be able to see to baby though?

No from birth my daughter has always been in the space behind the wife. I bought an inexpensive mirror and that kept her entertained and the Mrs happy.

I thought about switching the older one to behind the driver side. However as my seat is further back she has a habit of putting her feet on the seat in front. With leathers it's easy to wipe with cloth I'm a bit concerned.

I have already said to my wife when we have kids they are going to take their shoes off in my car when they are in a baby seat. There will also be a no messy food policy

I have 2 recaro monza 2 child seats in the back.  They look fairly good too since you can get them with coloured sides to contrast with the paint work and tartan seats.  I went for the black and red ones to fit in with my tornado red mk7.  I'm 6' and have a 7 yr old and 5 yr old.  The recaro seats can be bought with an evolution type pack to go from group 1 to 3 so will last as well.

I would try it in an R before you commit to buying one. We have an isofix base in our qashquai behind the passenger seat and even in that car the passenger seat had to be quite far forward to accommodate the base as its so large. I'm only 5'8 (vertically challenged)

I was thinking about going down to VW armed with two baby seats and the base  try it then say thanks and leave.

If I go for the r with cloth shoes off will be the policy.

Also one last question (promise) how much smaller is the boot in the R
