Boost gauge and locking glovebox

Hi,

Someone has said that new builds will not have a locking glove box, but will gain a boost gauge.

I'm not fussed about losing the locking glove box, but gaining a boost gauge is very appealing - however, I can't see anything on VW website.  Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Took this pic from a Clubsport vid which comes with it as standard even in MY2016 models, I'm guessing it's going to be just the same for standard GTIs (maybe different colors?). Right there in the middle you get the digital boost gauge. I always wanted to look at boost real-time, especially on tuned cars, but never dared add an actual gauge This is going to be just perfect for my like.

Personally I would prefer the locking glove box, can't see the point of a boost gauge. Must be a generational thing.

Sure, no point of keeping an eye on the boost on a turbo car

I would love to see what the frameless auto dimming rear view mirror looks like too.

Doesn't need a boost gauge, you'll get a light if there's a problem.
Not like its a home brew engine where you need to keep an eye on it.

Yes, in theory. In the real world I didn't get a light in the past when I had boost leaks, and when the turbo blew the light wasn't of much use. You don't even get an under-boost error until it's really low. I'd love to be on the same boat with you but thinking it's a new bullet-proof engine that you won't ever have to worry about isn't always the truth as experience has shown. I'll take every extra info and monitoring on such vital signs as the boost I can get.

Not to mention the invaluable feed-back for anyone into tuning and how every mod affects the way the power is delivered without needing to absolutely log through VCDS.

And anyway, the digital boost gauge isn't correlated to the locking glovebox. They just happen to be applied at the same time but one doesn't need the other two work. Extra info is always good. For anyone not interested in that stuff they can switch their screen to show something else surely.

^^ According to others the boost gauge seems inaccurate, it won't display negative values and the boost pressure doesn't convert atmospheric pressure, so it reads something silly like 30psi, which it isn't at all. 

The only thing that needs to be looked at is the revs... and the speedo of course.  Anything displayed below and to the left of your line of sight is a waste of time unless some feel its possible to view data in real time constantly while driving.

Nice to have on a new model for fun value though, to show people, I wouldn't mind it.  But I would want to rely on it or think its accurate

Any link of these reports? I was going to cross check the values against VCDS anyway the first time I'd try it out to see if and how off it is but it doesn't make much sense for it not to read the ECU values directly. In the pic I see 2.10 bar from which  I assume that atmospheric pressure is included. I'll be the first to criticize it if it reads nonsense anyway.

Regarding checking I don't agree. It's not that you need to keep an eye on boost all the time while driving obviously, nobody does that even if they have a physical gauge. But when you want to do a test-run on a proper empty piece of road or just want to check what boost you hit at some specific occasion you can very easily take a look at it and realize if something's not as usual.
