Standard rear Tint or Darker rear tint.

I am trying to find pictures to compare the standard rear tint against the darker one which is an option?

Did any of you spec this on your cars?

Im looking for all the good points and bad points against it, would the darker tint look better on my carbon grey car or not?

There will be more of a difference between the front and rear glass on the darker tint option than there will be on the standard tint.  I prefer the standard tint as it is plenty dark enough for me.  I had a Civic Type-R with the darker tint privacy glass on the back and it ended up looking more like a van as the fronts were noticeably lighter than the rear windows.  Not a good look in my opinion.  If it helps I have an Oryx White Golf R on order and I have left the glass as the standard tint.

I agree, my 2016 gti is dark enough if I had my way I would have had the same tint on the back as the front, it can look a bit like a van on dark colours.

Does anyone know the approximate cost to tint the rears to 90% please?  I don't pick my motor up until tomorrow, but am considering it.

Its definitely something worth seeing in flesh for yourself as the standard tint is perfect and anymore, particularly on a dark colour can have you lose the lines.

Have pure white and so there is more contrast and as its parked out front can testify that the tint is quite prominent and that anything more would be too obvious and too much of a contrast.

So basically do not underestimate how decent the standard tint is and that sometimes less is more

I specced them for my GTI and cancelled it when I saw them in the flesh.
Much too dark for me but my brother has them on his A4 avant and they look ok.

I've got a CSG GTD with 90% tints and I think it suits the colour, I'm glad I selected it

I've got it on my car too. You can still see through it if you want to but it is a fair bit darker than the standard one.



It looks better than a retrofit as you can't see the heater wires in the rear screen.

I toyed with the idea of speccing the 90% tints but looking at examples of the privacy glass in the flesh I felt there was too big a contrast between front & rear and that the standard 60% was more than adequate. Two months into ownership and I'm happy I made that decision.
