Picked mine up yesterday. Plate number 55. I wonder what this number relates to, if this is the 55 in the country and orders are now closed, there can't be that many in the UK.

I've seen 3 in the low 400s.  I reckon there can't be more that 500 or 600, taking into account orders still to be built (including mine!).

Is the assumption here fewer than the 1000 Clubsport models VW suggested they would make will come to the UK?

VW Europe were always making more than 1,000 overall, as the original press release from VW UK said that it was anticipated that no more than a 1,000 would be imported into the UK.  The original release also said that production would be time limited, which has turned out to be true.  My guess is that only 500 to 600 will arrive here, judging from the plaque numbers I've seen.  I do hope that's the case!

If they didn't import many, I would expect that is down to the regular CS being perceived as expensive vs the discounts available on regular GTi's?
I can't see them finding many new buyers unless they appear to be good value, as in fall in price.

I would buy one, but at double the price of my 3 year old PP, it just doesn't make sense financially.

There are a lot of good cars in the segment for £30-35k, not all are made by VW :)

They are expensive and with no deposit contribution I think sales have been slow.  However, I got a really good deal and it's a long term keeper for me so I would be happy to get confirmation that far fewer have been sold than the 1,000, we'll find out eventually.  It will also help residuals if only 500 or 600 have been sold.  I sold my R because they are everywhere (for good reason) but I wanted something a bit different and a bit more exclusive as I intend keeping it a while.  Unfortunately, I'm also one of those idiots enthusiasts that can't see past VW!

I agree turbo trev. Ended up getting myself 12% off list price and yet I could have got myself a similar specced standard GTI for £5000 less due to all the offers.

My dealer (a fairly large one) only sold 2 including mine. I don't think there will be many on the roads at all which will add to the uniqueness of the CS, which whilst not the same as the CSS will still be something special to own. I too am keeping it for the long term. Where did you see plates in the 400s? Have only seen double digits on the forums/dealer sites.

Lrw. You haven't got long to wait now. I laughed at your comment as when I got mine from the PDI centre there was a load of bird lime on. I got it off but was not nice to see.

Pulman, Durham, Lookers Middlesbrough and Lookers Darlington all had one each where the numbers were in the low 400s.  Pulman's was a stock car, but the other 2 were customer orders.

Oh ok. I want even expecting it to be that high. The demo one was 27. Still it is a cracking car and nice to have as a long term keeper. There is a edition 30 near me, driver looks after it and it looks brand new.
