How long is a piece of string...
« on: 27 April 2016, 16:58 »
Hey guys and gals, long time since I have been on here - how are you all!?

Right, the time has come to sell my baby, she has been laid up at my parents for a few years now but needs must.

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=155317.0

Now, do I invest the time and money to get her up, running and polished to slap her on the market for (£4k?) OR leave as is (needing body work and not running) and get shot for £1.5-2k?

Thoughts on a postcard please.

Alright mate. Long time no see.
Whats it worth to you having it as a non runner. Might sell quicker.

Less hasle as a non runner.

I would be inclined to leave it as is, because we all know how big that money hole can become when we start work... However, you sure you will get 1,500 for a non-runner?
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

I'm kinda wondering if there is a mid-ground of getting it running and cleaned up but leaving it rough around the edges.

Thanks for the feedback, and Hi Liam

Hey Sam - middle ground is probably your best bet.

Boring maths:
Say it is worth 2k as is and 4k sold. What does it need in parts that you can say for certain? How much time will it take and how valuable is your own time? Are those two worth enough less than the 2k difference to make it worth doing?

Yep, it is as simple as that. Tempted to tow it from my rents drive to my drive so I can spend this bank holiday weekend tinkering to try and get her started - then go from there.

I like that, will have to remember it.

"Well what your asking mate is like asking the length of a bit of string"

"Well, its the centre to one end x2 so give me a f**king answer"
