Hows this deal sound?
« on: 19 April 2016, 12:08 »
Hi,

I have a January 2014 Gti on a 4 year pcp at present and stupidly inquired with the car dealer as to what it would cost to basically have the same car again.   It turns out with a rather good 10% discount and £1250 deposit contribution I could have a new identical car for £40 / a month.    I know changing to the same car seems pointless but we all like new toys!

any thoughts?

Ian

It does seem pointless to me I'm afraid but if you are happy with it then go for it. I think I would get very quickly bored of the same car

You should be able to do better than 10% off, I managed 15% before dieselgate. Try the usual broker sites to see what they will offer and negotiate hard with the dealer.

But why do you want exactly the same thing again?

I see your point.  I guess I don't get bored with things when I like then, just the chance to have an even newer version for a fairly small financial penalty appeals

There is nothing wrong with having the same car as your next car if you get me. I drive a CC at the minute(or at least I would if the repairers were finished with it) and I would have no problem ordering a new one if they were not bringing out a completely new one in the near future. Hell I would even order it in oryx white again.

For the £40/month do you get any extras over what you have at the minute? Also when does your warranty run out because that is something else to think about.

As already said 10% doesn't seem that great, I got offered over 18% off an R with most options ticked. The worst thing you could do is rush into anything on the spur of the moment.

Hi,  Yes I would get keyless, winter pack and sat nav on the new car as standard.  I am not looking at the R out of interest.  Maybe £70 / £80 month extra is worth it for that car

Great deal but the same car again! nah, just like eating fish and chips for tea every night from the same chippy...you need to explore something new!
