Hi guys,
3 days ago I bought a 2006 SDI. I made my decision of buying it with a clouded judgment I guess. Was sold by the fact that the owner had it for 8 years, had a full year MOT and some service history. Some red flags were there but I missed them.
I drove the car both in city and motorway and felt that the engine and gearbox were solid. The basic electronics work and I went for it.
I did noticed the clutch being jerky when releasing it but the it was fine after.
Yesterday I was coming home and started noticing the following noise only when flooring the clutch pedal:

Now I read in forums that it can be done without removing the gearbox.
(Here for instance is a walkthrough and although the gearbox is out it does mention "if you have the gear box in the car"
http://www.brokevw.com/TO.html) and here it shows the procedure on a 1995 which seems quite simple:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_6iSAOb7sUMy question is whether my transmission is the same. I am trying to find the code and is quite dirty and to make things worth I can't open the bonnet now!
I did however check the sticker but I am not sure how to deduct the transmission code from there:

If any body has some light to shed it will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!
Coming from this dormant post:
http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=140957.08v clutch release bearing is in the end of the gearbox.
You can do it with the gearbox still in the car, you need to remove the end cap.
the bearing isn't part of a clutch kit usually and it is actually located under the green cover on the side of the box (and not where usual)
If your sure its the bearing you need that (around £8) and the green cover (around £8)
really easy job m8!
as boney said...
if you search my posts somewhere there is a diagram guide on hoe to do it!!
btw - mine lasted 9 months!!

By the way I could not find robz's diagrams...
