EGR Cooler - Warranty Work / Dashcam footage...

Over the last 2 months I've been loosing a bit coolant on and off, enough to turn on the warning light.

Anyway the car went into the garage to find out what was wrong and they put it down to a bad egr cooler. The car went in a week later and this was replaced under warranty. All good and well!

During this I assumed the car would have to be taken on a test drive. Maybe a couple of miles down the dual carriage way? Not in this case. I have a dashcam in the car and just wanted to have a look to see what happens when a car goes in to a garage to be worked on. The technician working on the car took the car home while hitting speeds of up to 51mph through the town, squeezing down narrow streets and speaking on the phone.

I would be interested to hear peoples opinions on this!

A quiet word with the workshop manager is needed methinks and ask him of this sort of driving is acceptable 

And what are they going to do to compensate you for ragging your car.....

Equally I believe you are more than within your rights to report the technician to the Police

Report it to the chief exec of the garage where it was repaired and also the police as well that's not on .

Seriously I have heard of this happening before when a car might need an extended test and rather than take time out of the workshop they bring the car home. Personally they would need a very good reason to bring my car home and I would also want to know where it was going and being parked overnight.

That's not acceptable. I would certainly be taking it up with the Service manager with the dealer principal copied in.

I also wouldn't be making the dealer known on a public forum until you had things sorted out.

I have a dashcam and found it interesting that a couple of stone chips that appeared on my car between dropping it off and picking it up "must have happened on the test drive"   Strange that considering it never left the dealers!

The only reason I posted this was to hear peoples opinions on this. I won't be naming the garage and I'm not going to post the footage online. I really don't want to put someone out of a job, in the end no harm was done!

Just remember that the mechanic had no regard for your property and also there might be a speeding ticket land through your letter box!
