Bridgestone's start off fine, but performance goes away as they wear, first 25% of wear is fine, then it all seems to fall away at a disproportionate rate as they wear further. No point changing until there is a need to.

No point changing until there is a need to.Not in my experience...They tramp from day 1 in wet and dry conditions and don't get any worse (or better) for tramping as they wear in. Their grip is really poor in the damp (where the road is barely wet) in all temperatures (relative for a premium tyre going on a car with a bit of poke), below average in the wet (where there is adequate standing water to be driven off by the tyre). They're as bad with 6mm on as 2mm. They are rock hard (which is probably the main cause for lack of grip and traction) and will last a long time (expect 25k miles on the fronts for a motorway miler GTD.If you have a Golf with tramping issues or the car is fidgety on damp roundabouts at pretty low speeds then changing them will transform the car.
Had goodyears on my last 2 cars. Is it time to try the continentals? Not minted so no michelins for me!
